To post, or not to post…

Even though I’ve been on Instagram for years, it does happen that there are gaps in between posts. Sometimes I’m just not up to taking photos and posting them, or don’t like the photos I do take enough to share them.

I’ve tried posting more photos recently, and have found myself going out for a walk, or wandering the streets with my phone in hand, trying to find ‘that perfect shot’. Let me tell you, though… While I may take a nice-looking photo this way, I’m having trouble taking photos that truly inspire me or really make me FEEL something other than ‘huh, that’s pretty’. It’s almost like… Like something is missing.

Take the image below, for instance. I took this photo years ago while out for a walk in nature. I must have taken dozens of photos of nearly everything I saw, and I really enjoyed myself that day, too. As the day was starting to draw to a close I was on my way back home, walking in the grass beside a bike path, and took this photo. I’ve taken many more photos along that same stretch, and the way the sky seems to just open up… There’s something truly magical about that, something that ensures that I still remember those moments, and those feelings, years later.

Honestly, I’d like to post photos that make me think like that, that make me feel like that, all the time. I’d like all photos I post to have this amazing story to go with them, and amazing memories too. Instead, sometimes it feels like I’m posting content just to post content. Somehow, that feels a tad too ‘commercial’ for me and not quite as genuine or down-to-earth as I’d like to think I am. So… Here’s to hoping I’ll post more real and honest content, and only if and when I want to!
